This is the hidden beach that can only be reached through a tunnel

Located in the Marietas Islands, the «Escondida Beach» is one of the most unique protected places in the world due to its orography

"Playa Escondida", also known as "Playa del Amor" is located on the Marietas Islands in the Mexican Pacific and is undoubtedly the dream place to disconnect from all worries. The archipelago where the beach is located is made up of two small islands and two islets of volcanic origin to the southeast of the Riviera Nayarit known as "the Jewel of the Pacific Coast." The spectacular white sand beach is hidden within a rock formation of natural origin that makes it a spectacle of the most exuberant nature.

Getting to this gem is not easy . You have to swim through a volcanic stone arch, which measures approximately 20 meters in length, with only 1.8 meters of space between the water and the rock, and that can only be crossed during periods of low tide. To get there, the most common route is to arrive by boat from Punta Mita in Riviera Nayarit.

The exclusivity and privacy is guaranteed . To ensure its conservation, an important protection program has been carried out which implies that each day it can only be visited by a total of 117 people . In addition, the maximum time allowed to stay on the beach is about 20 minutes . Likewise, the boats that take tourists to this unique corner cannot exceed 15 passengers in total. Efforts necessary to guarantee the conservation of one of the most unique paradisiacal beaches that we can find.

Marietas Islands: paradise of Biodiversity

In addition to the famous beach, the Marietas Islands deserve to attract all eyes thanks to their diversity. These uninhabited islands were declared a National Park and Protected Natural Area in Mexico , and recognized by Unesco as a Biosphere Reserve.

The fauna that we can find in this paradise is made up of turtles, various species of fish, dolphins and humpback whales during winter; as well as the largest population of yellow, brown and blue legged boobies.

Among these species, the peculiar blue-footed booby bird stands out, which we can only find in two places on the planet: the Marietas Islands and the Galapagos Islands. We can also find barber butterflies, humpback parrots, or steely swallows in Marietas Islands, among others.

On the other hand, its transparent waters and coral reefs are ideal for diving and snorkelling. Fans of these sports will be able to discover fish of all the colors they can imagine, in a unique protected marine ecosystem.
